An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player built a Breaking Bad-style meth lab inside their in-game house. This isn't the first time a New Horizons player has done something akin to this.

Releasing in spring of 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the fifth and most recent mainline Animal Crossing title. It involves players to setting up an entire island community from the ground up, and was very well-received and popular upon availability to the public. It became the second bestselling Nintendo Switch title and received a notable spike in popularity amid that year's lockdowns. Despite the game no longer receiving updates as of November 2021, that has not stopped the most ardent players from experimenting with New Horizons' customization features and designing all sorts of nifty structures, outfits, and interior designs.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Player Shocked When Villager Seemingly Asks To Get Married

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player shares the hilarious moment when a villager seems to propose getting married, leaving the fan shocked.

And that's exactly what Reddit user strangerthings___ had in mind with their latest creation. The user showed off two photos of a dimly-lit science lab, filled with various types of containers such as gas jugs and iron barrels, and multiple chemistry sets sitting around on top of the folding tables. While Breaking Bad was not mentioned by name in the post itself, the simple caption of "My Meth Lab" does give some pause. Their character is even dressed up in a gas mask and yellow haz-mat suit, a common outfit seen on the show. It certainly would not be the first time a customizable game would allow for such an homage.

Fellow Redditors in the comments appeared very impressed with what they saw. One player noted that they've done something similar on their file, but hid the room in a clever manner. Another stated that Breaking Bad's Gus Fring would have been proud to see this recreation. Someone else commented on the lack of a barrel with a bee on it, an iconic item from the five-season crime drama, but the OP lamented that they were unable to add it due to their inability to visually customize the barrel item.

The genius thing about customizability in video games is that it allows such clever homages like this to happen, all at the behest of the player. This is far from the first time an Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has paid homage to pop culture in-game, and given the title's enduring popularity over three years into its lifespan, it undoubtedly will not be the last.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available on Nintendo Switch.
