Two items are available to purchase in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in celebration of Mother's Day. While one item returns from last year's in-game celebration, the other one is brand new to the game.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for over a year, meaning that the events and holiday celebrations from last year are beginning to lapse with the same items becoming available once again. While this is great news for players who may not have had the option to get rare or limited-time items the first time around, other players complain that New Horizons has a lack of decorations and content in general. But it looks like Nintendo is adding some new features to the second year of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, starting with new Mother's Day items.

Mother's Day is on Sunday, May 9th this year, this year's in-game Mother's Day event will introduce the Carnations item to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a type of floral decorative item that can be displayed on countertops or the floor. The Mother's Day Carnations are a beautiful red, white, and pink bouquet set in an adorable basket. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the flowers are available in any other colors, much like most seasonal Animal Crossing items.

This month, players can also pick up the seasonal Thank-you Mom Mug from 2020. The Carnations will run players 1,600 bells while the Mug costs 600 bells. Both items are available through the end of May. As usual, the limited-time items are available through the Nook Shopping app on the in-game phone, or through the terminal inside Resident Services.

But before Mother's Day, players can also celebrate the Japanese Holiday known as Children's Day. Though western players may not realize, Animal Crossing keeps with its roots by celebrating Japanese holidays. Children's Day falls on May 5, but players can pick up the themed item, a Carp Banner, until May 7. The colorful Carp Banner costs 5,500 bells.

Also during the month of May is Animal Crossing's May Day event. Much like last year's May Day event in New Horizons, players can pick up a special plane ticket at Dodo Airlines to go to an island with a maze. If players are able to complete the maze, they can earn special prizes. The May Day Maze will be available through May 7.

And later in May in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players can participate in International Museum Day at Blathers' Museum, much like last year's event.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for the Nintendo Switch.
