With Animal Crossing: New Horizons having Lunar New Year celebrations in-game, this fan seems to have posted their artwork right in time for the real-life and virtual festivities.
Though Nintendo has not shared any news about a new addition to the Animal Crossing series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to cycle through its seasonal events in the game. This still gives fans a lot to do when they log into their island life daily, especially since the life sim's free 2.0 update and paid Happy Home Paradise DLC added more items and features for them to enjoy. However, it seems most of the community engagement for the life sim is found online, with fans celebrating real-world holidays like Lunar New Year with art based on ACNH.
To mark the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, Redditor Pasuteru-Usagi shared the adorable artwork they illustrated that is themed after the life sim. In the illustration, four Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers, namely Bunnie, Sasha, Ruby, and Genji, are seen dressed up in kimonos and surrounded by Japanese-themed elements. According to the artist, the illustration was created for the Year of the Rabbit, which is what 2023 will be according to the Chinese Zodiac. This is likely why the four featured villagers in Pasuteru-Usagi's piece are all rabbit or bunny villagers that players can invite to reside on their island.
Fellow fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons heaped compliments on the Redditor's work, calling it cute or lovely. Some commented that they even had some of the featured Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers as residents in their game, while another pointed out that they were able to invite Ruby to live on their island just this January 1. Another community member also mentioned that the artist was able to cleverly hide 2023 into the artwork, with fans only being able to spot them if they look at the illustration closely.
With the real Lunar New Year date being only a few weeks away, gamers will likely see more of these themed artworks being shared by the more creative side of the gaming community.
