Animal Crossing: New Horizons is full of memorable details, with players often finding new ones when they least expect it. That has happened again with the Happy Home Paradise DLC, as one Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan spotted a wild detail inside of a Villager’s home.

Nintendo put plenty of time into adding small details that fans will appreciate, and that some will never see. Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Villlagers have special toe beans on their paws and will make unique tracks in the snow. TVs can be turned on and will play a few hard-to-recognize programs, toasters will actually work, and players can fill their dart boart with darts. The King Tut helmet features a unique falling animation when players run, showing just how much thought went into the base game’s content.

It seems like that same level of detail was important to Nintendo when designing the Happy Home Paradise DLC for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The expansion sees players decorating Vacation Homes for their favorite Villagers, with buildings like hospitals and schools also being worked on as players make some progress in the expansion. Like players do with their own home, they will place items throughout each room, customizing a Villager’s living space until they are completely satisfied. However, one specific item type has a unique ability.

Pointed out by Reddit user and Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan Upperclasshole, the game’s large fossils will have a major impact on a building’s ceiling if they are placed down. While it would make sense for the fossils to clip through the ceiling or just not be placeable inside of homes, Nintendo thought that it would be better to have them break through ceilings like what would happen in real life. As such, the dinosaur’s massive neck is all that can be seen, with the extinct creature’s skull creating a hole in the roof.

The hole looks completely natural, as pieces of wood are splintered outward from the point of impact. Unsurprisingly, this detail shocked Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, with the post bringing in over 25,000 upvotes over the last few days. For those interested in replicating the design, they will have to complete a few dozen Vacation Homes before fossils become available. Even if players have no interest in making fossil-filled homes, everyone can appreciate this attention to detail. While players wondering if other items make a similar hole, many will likely start placing some massive items inside their Villager’s getaway destinations.

With gamers needing a handheld camera to even spot the hole, it is hardly a surprise that it took some time to find. While it is unclear where the Animal Crossing series will go next, hopefully its items will remain just as complex and unique.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
