While most players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons have decorated their islands to be incredibly cute and welcoming environments, one has decided to go down a more morbid route when it comes to a little corner. As players figure out more tricks that help Animal Crossing: New Horizons keep its longevity, more interesting discoveries will be made that provide new ways to play the game or decorate the island.

Despite having come out roughly 3 years ago, the fact a guidebook for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming out now is a testament to its enduring popularity. Since its March 2020 release, creative players have figured out countless ways to decorate their island, making each one feel like a distinct place compared to islands others decorate when it comes to the overall theme and the small details.

A Reddit user named ShadisNOTAmused is one such player that has gone in a unique but morbid direction with one of the smaller details on their island, which can be seen here. Tucked away in a corner on the beach is a skeleton surrounded by giant crabs and paint splatters made to resemble blood. Meanwhile, the player character stands with the crabs and has a smile on their face. For a game as family-friendly as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the scene is a disturbing one, but since it is a decorative set piece, it is also fun in a spooky way.

Users reacting to the scene have had fun with it, exemplified by the top comment simply stating Amelia Earhart in reference to the famous pilot who had gone missing. Others asked questions relating to how the scene was made, with ShadisNOTAmused stating that the figures were spider crabs and also sharing the design code with another commenter for anyone to use. Although conceptually not as overly cute as the Snowboy band another Animal Crossing: New Horizons player had made, there is a lot of fun in depicting a scene that implies someone had been killed by spider crabs.

Scenes like the one created by ShadisNOTAmused do a great job showing the creative potential found in the game, which is one reason Animal Crossing: New Horizons remains a bestseller for Nintendo. Whether one wants to take their village in a cute direction, making it a warm and inviting place that is relaxing to exist in, or go in the complete opposite direction by making the village a fun horror show, there are no doubt that many possibilities remain untapped.
