It seems like the work never stops for the team behind Nintendo's life simulation title, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After an early release of the ACNH free 2.0 update, plus the launch of its first paid DLC Happy Home Paradise, the marketing team has made one more exciting announcement. This time, fans located in Japan can experience a real-life Animal Crossing: New Horizons event through the recently revealed partnership with the country's Sendai Umino-Mori aquarium.
Many fans and players would likely agree that the in-game Animal Crossing: New Horizons monthly events are one of the title's biggest features. Players can always expect something to happen within every month, whether it's a fishing or bug-catching contest, or custom activities designed for each season. The game also takes into consideration the yearly holidays and special events such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, Earth Day, Halloween, and even the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, to name a few. Now, it seems real-life ACNH events are making a comeback, specifically in the country of Japan.
On the official Japanese Nintendo website, the team gives the complete details of the collaboration between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Japan's Sendai Umino-Mori aquarium. Fans in Japan can visit the aquarium to participate in the event from November 16, 2021 to January 10, 2022. The aquarium is located north of Tokyo, in the Sendai area, within the Miyagi prefecture. Though there are no specific in-game activities outlined in the official post, visitors can participate in real life activities such as a stamp rally, check out the special exhibit explanations featuring the ACNH museum proprietor Blathers, and even try to spot the passed out Gulliver in one of the displays.
Visitors can also try diving in the aquarium's largest tank, where they can swim with sharks, different types of large fish, and sting rays. Participants who purchase tickets to the diving activity will get a special photo and commemorative sticker. For those who prefer food trips, a restaurant specializing in seafood dishes is also available for visitors. And lastly, for fans who own the My Nintendo App, completing the GPS check-in in the aquarium will reward them with a random Animal Crossing: New Horizons Amiibo card and special postcard.
As the pandemic becomes more manageable in different parts of the globe, real-life events such as this Animal Crossing: New Horizons collaboration will likely pop up more often. Hopefully, Nintendo will bring some over to its Western fans, so that they can also experience special activities centered around the game.
