With the break-out success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Nintendo Switch, it makes sense for Nintendo to capitalize on that popularity with a larger social media presence. The series has a dedicated Twitter account run by Isabelle, but that mostly sticks to news and announcements. As of today, there is also an official Animal Crossing Instagram account that proposes to give players "highlights of all the island residents" by showing some of their daily lives.

The first villager showcased by the account is Twiggy, a peppy bird who has appeared since the original Animal Crossing. This Instagram post establishes a basic template for the future, with villagers getting a brief slideshow doing various things in their homes, such as listening to music. With details like birthdays and catchphrases built onto every villager, it is admittedly disappointing to see the Instagram account not talk about them further in the post's description.

However, getting a glimpse into a villager's home will be a plus for players who want to hunt for specific residents or request one from a service like Villager Haven, which hacks in dream villagers for free. That will be especially useful once the account has had time to grow its catalogue, and hopefully what it says about each resident will grow too.

Though the social media phenomenon has died down, the latest Animal Crossing continues to break sales records for Nintendo. New Horizons' Summer Update added content like swimming into the game, and the developers have promised a second wave of new things to do in August.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
