With the recent 1.2.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the festivities for Nature Day have begun. This update has also brought many new items and furniture to the game, including hedge fencing.

Hedge fences function the same as any other fence, but their appearance is especially aesthetically appealing for players wanting a natural-looking island. They require 10 clumps of weeds, 5 tree branches, and 2 stones. Because of this, some players may want to wait before selling their weeds to Leif.

In order to get the DIY recipe for hedges, players must update their games to at least version 1.2.0. During the Nature Day festivities, players will see that there will be special Nook Miles+ tasks themed around Nature Day. This is a sign that they can get the recipe.

If players enter Residential Services, they can speak to Tom Nook. He will reinform players about the special Nook Miles+ tasks. Once a player has completed one of the special Nook Miles+ Nature Day tasks, the player can go back to Tom Nook to receive this recipe.

Once received, players can build them with each crafting session creating ten pieces of fencing. These pieces of fencing can be used to wrap around paths, surround homes, and close off private gardens.

Many of the Nature Day activities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons consist of planting and watering different plants around players' islands. With Leif being a new visitor in town, players can buy loads of flower seeds as well as shrubs for their islands. Shrubs are similar to hedges, except that they must be grown and not crafted. Additionally, there are different varieties of shrubs that have flowers that bloom depending on the season.

For players that need more weeds for crafting, they can always find more via exploring the random islands available the Nook Miles tickets. While the islands a player will end up on are random, they will more often than not have a number of weeds that can be picked. Hedges aren't the only DIY recipe that requires weeds, so players should keep a back supply in storage anyway for any future recipes.
