To unlock new abilities in the Happy Home Paradise DLC, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players should simply focus on creating vacation homes for clients. Indeed, each of the unlockables are granted upon finishing a certain number of properties, and here are specific on how this all breaks down:

Furniture Polish (4 Homes Completed)

The first thing that players will unlock in HHP is the ability to polish furniture. Performing this action will cause the piece to sparkle, and it is a technique that fans can use on their own islands.

Workbench (5 Homes Completed)

A DIY Workbench will appear above Lottie's office with five properties finished, allowing fans to do some crafting without returning to their personal islands.

Change Room Size / School (6 Homes Completed)

After fulfilling the requests of their sixth client, players will be tasked with designing their first facility in Happy Home Paradise: a school. Fans will unlock the ability to change the width and length of a room while working on this facility, though they will not be able to alter the size of their rooms back home.

Amiibo Reader (7 Homes Completed)

An amiibo reader will appear on Lottie’s desk when seven homes have been finished, and players that have some Animal Crossing: New Horizons amiibo cards can use it to invite specific villagers to the vacation islands.

Partition Walls (8 Homes Completed)

Players that are interested in dividing their rooms into smaller spaces may be happy to learn that they will unlock partition walls in ACNH once they have finished their eighth vacation home.

Furniture Polish Effects (12 Homes Completed)

Sparkles are not the only effect that fans can apply to furniture through polishing, and additional shines will unlock after working with 12 clients.

Change Lighting / Cafe and Restaurant (12 Homes Completed)

Players will also earn their second facility, a cafe or restaurant, upon finishing house number 12, and they will learn how to change lighting while they are working on it. Not only will this allow fans to set the brightness of their interior lights, they will be able to alter their color as well.

Counters and Pillars (15 Homes Completed)

Additional structural elements that can be unlocked during Happy Home Paradise, counters and pillars provide new opportunities for decorating vacation homes and a player’s personal residence.

Roommates (16 Homes Completed)

With 16 clients handled, players will gain the ability to have two villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons share a single vacation home.

Soundscapes (17 Homes Completed)

Soundscapes allow fans to add aural components to their designs, making rooms sound like construction sites or space, and they become available after completing 17 properties.

Second Story (18 Homes Completed)

For those players that are not satisfied with only being able to increase the size of a vacation house’s room, the second floor that is unlocked at 18 homes is sure to be greatly appreciated.

Hospital (24 Homes Completed)

While there is no new ability granted at 24 vacation homes completed, fans will get a chance to design yet another facility: the hospital.

Nook Shopping Catalog (27 Homes Completed)

This unlock allows players to use any item from their Nook Shopping Catalog as they design vacation homes, greatly expanding the options they have for both interior and exterior decor.

Apparel Shop (30 Homes Completed)

As was the case with the unlock at 24 homes completed, this one is a facility with no new ability. Notably, this is the final facility that players will design in HHP, and they may want to give it some extra attention as a result.

Villager Home Remodels (30 Homes Completed)

Here is the last unlockable in the new ACNH DLC, and it is one that fans are sure to be very excited about. Indeed, after completing 30 vacation properties, players will gain the ability to remodel the homes of their villagers back on their islands.
