Animal Crossing: New Horizons recently teased its upcoming Summer Update Wave 2. A lot of exciting stuff was revealed in the Summer Update Wave 2 announcement video, including the ability to backup New Horizons islands, but a small tease at the end of the trailer hinted at something else as well.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has held holiday events since its release, so it comes as no surprise to see a Halloween event coming sometime this Fall. That said, there isn't a lot to go off of at the moment regarding what the event will actually be like.

At the end of the presentation, the image above appears, hinting that fans will be receiving a free Halloween update this Fall. Though the image doesn't explicitly say Halloween, the inclusion of a jack o'lantern in the slide makes it pretty obvious that Halloween is the focus of the update.

While not much is known about the upcoming Halloween event, fans can make an educated guess based on the history of Halloween in previous Animal Crossing games. In every other game except Wild World, the Halloween event sees Jack, a ghostly figure wearing a jack o'lantern on his head (or is the jack o'lantern actually his head?) appear in the town. Players can collect candy and give them to Jack in order to receive spooky furniture as a reward. In New Horizons, this will most likely be very similar to the Easter event, although hopefully Nintendo has learned its lesson from including too many eggs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Of course, New Horizons has struck out on its own in the past, so it is in now way bound to follow the traditions set in place by previous Animal Crossing games. It could be that the event is completely new, or only inspired by the previous Halloween events. Either way, this is a free event which will take place sometime during October and give the player a chance to earn a bunch of spooky furniture, so it should end up being a lot of fun. Fans will have to wait to see if the Czar of Halloween, Jack, returns.

The video above shows some of the great things coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the coming months, and the Halloween teaser can be found at the very end. It's a short video, but it packs a ton of new information in just under two minutes.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
