It's been nearly six months since Animal Crossing: New Horizons launched and within that short amount of time, a surprising amount of additional content has been released for the game. A mainstay feature of the Animal Crossing series is how the world of the game changes throughout the year, and New Horizons is no exception to this. With September finally here, the Animal Crossing developers are populating players' islands with all sorts of new things.

As previously mentioned, Animal Crossing's world changes depending on the time of year the user is playing in. This means the developers are constantly adding additional content for players to enjoy all throughout the year. For example, shortly after the game launched, there was an Easter event that ran for a limited time during the month of April.

The fall update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has arrived and includes a variety of new collectibles for players to search for, like new types of bugs and fish for Animal Crossing players to find, such as crickets, salmon, and monarch butterflies. Though, there is so much more content for players to enjoy and create.

In addition to new bugs and fish, players can now shake trees in order to collect acorns and pine cones. As some players have already found out, there are plenty of new crafting recipes featuring acorns and pine cones, which will give players a cacophony of new items and furniture to decorate their houses with.

It's nice that the developers have continued to remain reactive when it comes to new content. While the updates themselves are free, new content incentivizes players to continue to come back and play the game. With all of the new content that has been added to the game since its launch, such as the art museum and the dream addresses, in addition to all of the seasonal events, it gives players a lot to do and accomplish within Animal Crossing.

For how much free content the developers continue to release, it's no surprise why Animal Crossing has managed to maintain its popularity and longevity long after its initial launch. It makes sense as to why Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the highest-selling Nintendo Switch games ever released. In any case, hopefully, players will enjoy the new September update and all it contains.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
