If players go inside the cabinet in the back of Nook's Cranny, they will see multiple DIY recipes for sale. Many of these the player will already have due to being recipes for the initial tools from the beginning of the game, but there are a couple that the player won't have.

For 2,680 bells, players can buy the Test Your DIY Skills set of recipes, which contains seven furniture recipes. For 6,980 bells, players can purchase the Wildest Dreams DIY set that contains six other recipes that are more difficult to complete than the previous set.

Balloons

Players probably notice various colored balloons flying overhead as they explore their islands. By popping these balloons with a slingshot, players can receive either a furniture item, bells, crafting materials, or possibly a DIY recipe. However, players should be careful, as if they pop the balloon in a spot where it would fall into the water or into a field of flowers, the present carried by the balloon will disappear and cannot be recovered.

Message Bottles

By combing the beaches, players may find shells, manila clams, or even star fragments after a meteor shower. What players can also find washed up on the beaches are message bottles. These bottles are sent out by villagers not living on the player's island and inside they contain a letter from the sender and a DIY recipe.

Nook Miles

Animal Crossing New Horizons Residential Services

After upgrading Residential Services into a proper building, players will get more options with exchanging Nook Miles at the Nook Stop. While being able to order new furniture for the outdoors, players can also buy more complicated DIY recipes with their Nook Miles. These recipes include hot items such as hot springs, wells, and giant robots. Unlike ordering furniture, players will get the recipe instantly without having to wait.

Events

While only the Bunny Day event has come and gone so far in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it did provide a lot of recipes for players to make. Alongside the Cherry Blossom recipes, more could be gotten from popping balloons and players could additionally get more recipes from Zipper T. Bunny on Bunny Day itself. As the year goes on, there are sure to be more events that provide players with recipes.

Neighbors

Animal Crossing New Horizons Puella Magi Madoka Magica

If players visit their neighbors in their homes, there's a chance that they're working on DIY crafting themselves. If players talk to them while they're crafting, they will offer to teach players the recipe they're working on and give them a recipe card. Players can tell if a villager is home or not by seeing if smoke is coming out of their chimney. If there's smoke, someone's inside.
