It is typical for an Animal Crossing game to begin with players answering a series of short questions as they are transported to their brand new homes. Ultimately, the answers to these questions determine the gender and looks of a player's character, and this process is one that some fans find slightly irritating. Fortunately for these players, it seems that Animal Crossing: New Horizons will feature a more straightforward character creator, and footage of it in action has now been revealed.

Indeed, a short video of the Animal Crossing: New Horizons character creator was recently shared by the series' Japanese Twitter account, and it can be found below. In what is sure to delight many fans, the creator is shown to separate different aspects of a character into distinct tabs, allowing a player to easily change their avatar's skin color, hair, eyes, nose, mouth, and makeup. While this is far from revelatory for a character creator in 2020, it still feels like a major upgrade for the franchise.

This is not all that has been shown of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' character customization, though, as the Japanese Twitter account also revealed that a player will be able to change their character's look simply if they have access to a mirror or dresser. Certainly, that will make it very easy for a fan to get their character looking just the way they want, but it does bring at least one question to mind.

Specifically, some players may wonder if the ability to freely customize a character throughout ACNH means that Shampoodle will not be making an appearance in this new game. Debuting in 2005's Animal Crossing: Wild World, Shampoodle is typically the business that a player must visit in order to alter their character's appearance, and some fans would likely be disappointed to find it completely absent in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

However, it is possible that Shampoodle could exist as a way to unlock new customization options in ACNH. Or perhaps the business's proprietor Harriet will appear with special cosmetic offerings during some of Animal Crossing: New Horizons' events. Whatever the case with Shampoodle may be, some fans will simply be happy to see the ease of character customization featured in ACNH, and they can use the videos found here to begin planning their characters' looks ahead of release.
