Animal Crossing: New Horizons players have likely all witnessed in-game shooting stars by now. If not, they've certainly heard of the phenomenon from the spritely owl, Celeste.

Celeste visits players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons roughly once every week. She often appears when there are shooting stars, and can always be seen on nights with a meteor shower. If players track her down on their islands, she offers up some neat information, and one gift per visit.

The vast majority of Celeste's DIYs are space-related, but even those that aren't all share one thing in common: They're crafted using Star Fragments. Islanders will receive the monthly "horoscope" DIY on their first encounter of the star season with Celeste, but in between those instances she distributes a random DIY.

Although it may seem like there are infinite star DIYs to collect, some players have found themselves questioning the extent of Celeste's gifts. It isn't really possible to ask Celeste how many DIYs a player is missing, but there is one trick that allows a player to verify whether or not they've collected every DIY that Celeste presently has to offer.

Once a player has gathered every DIY recipe that Celeste can currently give, she will begin to gift Star Fragments. That is to say, players need not worry about receiving duplicate DIYs from Celeste, as she will always gift one the player lacks until she runs out. This detail, like all things in Animal Crossing, comes with pros and cons.

For some players, the knowledge that Celeste has nothing new to offer will come as a relief. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is inhabited by countless creatures, characters, and collectibles, all of which can be overwhelming. With various visitors making time-sensitive, unannounced appearances on players' islands, much of its gameplay can quickly devolve into scrambling through a list of daily chores. Knowing that it doesn't matter whether or not Celeste is on the island because she has no new DIY to give can be an asset.

On the other hand, many players bemoan the reward that replaces Celeste's DIYs. Star Fragments are certainly valuable, and players will need plenty of them to craft all the different DIYs given by Celeste. However, if a player is far enough into the game to have every single one of her DIYs, then chances are they have amassed an expansive collection of Star Fragments. The last thing a late-game player may want is another bundle of duplicate items.
