In the month of August, many sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons will still be available, with only one addition coming to the roster, but lucky for players on both sides of the globe, not many will be leaving at the end of the month either.

Thanks to the Wave 1 Summer Update released at the beginning of July, a slew of new activities were introduced to Animal Crossing: New Horizons players, including swimming and diving for sea creatures hiding on the bottom of the ocean floor. This created a new category of wildlife within the game to be donated to Blathers's museum. Likewise, similar to fish and bugs, sea creatures will have a rotating seasonal schedule ongoing each month, with unique catching windows and selling prices.

Last month, New Horizons players saw a slew of new bugs to catch, mimicking Japan's summerly plague of beetles and cicadas, many of which are worth quite a few bells to the Nook brothers. August, however, is a little less exciting for sea creatures as only one new critter will be findable at the bottom of the ocean floor.

For folks in the Northern Hemisphere, the only new sea creature will be the Flatworm. It's catchable via diving between the hours of 4 AM to 9 AM and can be identified by its slow, short movement pattern and tiny shadow size. It's a little underwhelming of an addition, and even less so when players see how much it sells for—only 700 bells. And unfortunately for folks in the Southern Hemisphere, no new sea creatures will be joining New Horizons with the month of August.

It might be a bit of a disappointment, but soon, players will be welcomed by the Wave 2 Summer Update that will bring with it another ton of activities to keep them busy. Following the update coming tomorrow, July 30th, each Sunday in August will see the celebration of many new items, including fireworks and Redd's Raffle. Players will even be able to create their own fireworks designs for the shows.

With the Wave 1 update, players saw the brand new NPC Pascal introduced, and with the Wave 2 update, yet another newcomer will be welcomed to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Luna was first introduced during New Leaf and will help players visit the islands of other players via sleeping in the Dream Suite.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
