New Horizons is one of the Nintendo Switch's best-selling games, and fans continue to return to the title years after launch to create some truly inspired homes and islands. And now, the world of film noir can be added to that rather extensive list.

Reddit user HaveYouSeenMyTattoos shared a video with the community that showcases their murder mystery-themed island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The video is edited like the beginning of a noir film, with the narrating villager setting the stage for the disappearance of the town's mayor in this in-universe fan fiction. Players continue to post their creations on social media, whether it be a Star Wars-inspired island or a Barbie Dreamhouse within Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Now, even the world of grainy film noir has proven to be an inspiration to players.

For those looking to visit the island firsthand, the creator even provides the Dream Address code at the end of the video. Of course, players cannot bring any items with them to Dream Islands, but gamers can still have fun and inspiring trips to see what others have built.

While it has been a few years since its launch, dedicated and creative fans have proven time and time again that the game has serious legs. Also, the various modes added since its debut as well as the Happy Homes Paradise DLC have certainly helped the game's longevity. The success of New Horizons perhaps even paved the way for the rumored Animal Crossing LEGO sets, which leaked online.

Either way, it appears as though Animal Crossing has cemented itself as one of the tent pole Nintendo franchises moving forward. Still, while many Nintendo fans might be looking to the future of the franchise and the changes the next Animal Crossing game could make to important features like multiplayer, the creative faithful still inspire some lapsed gamers to power on their respective Nintendo Switch, create something new, and visit with their islanders.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is currently available on Switch.
