Among Us was and still is one of the most ubiquitous games of the past couple of years. Its popularity skyrocketed seemingly out of the blue, which allowed the developer, Innersloth, to dominate the niche and grow it into a veritable franchise that's just about to enter its next stage of evolution.

Naturally, the next step for Among Us is its long-awaited VR entry, which just received an all-new gameplay trailer showcasing what the game looks like from the perspective of Yellow, a particularly unlucky Crewmate. While the premise alone is extremely intriguing as a setup for a VR multiplayer game, the new trailer does a great job of highlighting the platform's strengths, such as gesturing.

Though Among Us VR certainly needs strong gameplay features, it seems that Innersloth is intent on underlining VR's biggest strengths with this particular iteration of the beloved game. To that end, the trailer shows off virtually every aspect of the core gameplay loop, underlining just how much more immersive and interesting even the simplest interactions might be. Whereas the base game's avatars are cute enough in their own right, their VR variants can gesture and even make use of limited body language options, which is an extraordinary feature.

As a follow-up to the original Among Us VR gameplay trailer, the new outing is significantly less ominous thanks to its focus on player interactions and minigames themselves. The fact that there's a killer loose on the ship is, however, every bit as important as it is in the base game. In fact, switching over from a faux-isometric perspective to a proper first-person viewpoint makes otherwise tense sequences even scarier than before.

Some believe that Among Us VR could be easier for Impostors due to extremely limited visibility, and the new trailer certainly goes a long way towards suggesting as much, too. Namely, Yellow keeps missing the fact that Crewmembers standing right next to them keep dying over and over again, to the point where they get blamed for almost all the killings.

Whether Impostors have it easy in the VR version of the game or not, it's plenty obvious by now that Among Us VR will be incredibly immersive. By implementing key functionality such as gesturing and the like, Innersloth shows that it's got a solid idea of what the players are likely to enjoy. Whether these features will function well in practice or not, however, is anyone's guess for the time being.

Among Us VR is set to launch in the holiday season of 2022 for HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Valve Index, and PSVR.
