Innersloth’s Among Us may be simple in design, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the breakout multiplayer games of 2020. The title’s sudden popularity has led to the formation of a passionate fan community, with members creating Among Us-inspired memes and art. Most recently, one dedicated fan recreated the game using ultra-realistic Unreal Engine 4 graphics.

YouTuber Fat Dino is an independent content-creator who is known for using Unreal Engine 4 to recreate popular mobile games with advanced graphics. He recently remade games such as Fall Guys and the 2013 mobile hit Flappy Bird with RTX, giving both of the cartoonish-looking games an ultra-realistic appearance.

In his latest project, Fat Dino used Unreal Engine 4 to recreate Among Us. In a 10-minute-long video, the YouTuber explains how he used assets from the Unreal Engine store to create The Skeld, Among Us’ most recognizable map. Because of time constraints, Fat Dino was only able to recreate half of the map, including the cafeteria, medbay, engine rooms, electrical room, security, and the reactor, but the result is a stunning recreation of The Skeld with detailed textures and dynamic lighting. Even with realistic graphics, the various rooms should be recognizable to any fan of Among Us.

Fat Dino did not stop after recreating the map. He also designed astronaut models from scratch and added basic animations to bring them to life. To make the game playable, he added in several of the game’s tasks, including dumping trash, swiping the admin card and fixing wires. Players can even complete the scan task in the medbay to alert other players that they are not the impostor. The players who are the impostor can still kill other players in the same way that they would in the official Among Us game, as well as sabotage the reactor, lights, and doors.

But Among Us would not be what it is without its chat feature that allows players to figure out who the impostor is, so Fat Dino added a chat mode to his recreation. The end product is a game that seems to play extremely similarly to Among Us, but with high-powered graphics on par with AAA titles.

Fat Dino is not the first fan to recreate the hit game. A month ago, a Reddit user made their own Unreal Engine 4 version of Among Us, though their version is completely different. Another fan created a Rocket League version of the game, which recreates The Skeld map with brand new mechanics.

Among Us is available on mobile devices and PC.
