Frictional Games' newest addition to their critically acclaimed survival horror series, Amnesia, features a monster often referred to as the Stalker. In Amnesia: The Bunker, players cannot get rid of the Stalker until the very end, but they can certainly scare him away with bullets and throwables like grenades or Molotov cocktails.

However, the Stalker has a sad backstory, and oddly enough, a rabbit toy plays a huge part in it. The rabbit toy in question is definitely an essential item for players to obtain in order to complete the game, but it is extraordinarily helpful for distracting the stalker. Getting a hold of this item also ensures an achievement called "The Toy Collector," but finding it requires a keen eye, as it is pretty easy to miss.

How To Get The Rabbit Toy In Amnesia: The Bunker

Inventory view of the Rabbit toy

The Stalker, previously known as the Augustin Lambert, was the protagonist's best friend on the battlefield of World War I. After an injury suffered from falling into a massive crater, Lambert drank otherworldly tainted water given to him by Henri, the protagonist, which mutated him into a bloodthirsty ghoul. Although he lost most of his sanity, Lambert still cherished the rabbit toy he bought for his son, and would get distracted by it whenever it is thrown at him. He'd pick up the toy and cease the chase, taking the toy back with him through nearby crevices.

From the in-game lore, it is obvious that Lambert lost the rabbit toy as he fell into the crater during the prologue of the game. However, obtaining it is not so simple for the players as it is found very late into the game. The crater in question is not a part of the bunker, but lies in the Roman ruins outside the bunker. Players can get to these ruins through a secret passage filled with obstructions and a deadly adversary, near the Arsenal area of the bunker. Completing the following objectives is crucial for a safe passage through the ancient Roman Ruins, to the rabbit toy.

  • Acquire the Bolt Cutters: These can be discovered in the German prisoner cell in the Bunker's Prison section. It is necessary for passing past chain-locked doors.
  • Lift the Lockdown: To lift the lockdown, take the lockdown wheel out of Delisle's locker and use it on the control panels in the hallway.
  • Retain power in the generator: The generator is inside the Central Bunker region of the map, in the Admin office. The Stalker will pursue players more frequently without light, therefore skipping this part puts them at serious risk.
  • Grenade (optional): Players who want to make it through the upcoming fight without any difficulties will find it easier to use a grenade. However, Explosives should only be used as a last resort because they are quite rare.

Path To The Save Point

Players can see a dilapidated path leading from the Arsenal area to the tunnels, which conveniently have room for the players to pass through among the debris. Use the bolt cutters on the locked gate after crawling through the debris. Players now have access to a path leading to a water pump and ultimately to flooded water. The power lever is concealed behind a box at the opposite end; swim to it.

The power lever can be activated by moving the box, which will restart the water pump. To empty the flooded storage space, go back to the water pump and turn it on. Players can locate a metal box and a wooden plank that block their entry to the tunnel beyond in the extreme back of the storage area.

Enter the dark tunnel that leads to an open area with a camp, after removing these obstacles one at a time. The light in the camp allows players to safely save their game. They will soon be fighting an unhinged soldier after passing through another hole, in order to retrieve the rabbit toy.

Dealing With The Soldier

Turn right, away from the camp and towards the wall that appears to be disintegrating, then take the path through the creepy tunnel. Here, players can find Toussaint, a deranged soldier armed with a shotgun, who decided to blind himself in a desperate attempt to retain his sanity.

Players can either choose to kill him with a grenade or a bullet to the head or avoid him completely. Upon his death, pick up his shotgun. Follow the hallway to the right of their dropping point to approach two doors, one of which can be unlocked and another that can be broken with a brick.

Path To The Crater

A brick can be found before unlocking the metal door, which can be carried to the wooden door. Upon destroying the door, the center of the room will have the detonator handle, an essential tool for completing the game. To the left of the detonator handle is another hole blocked by rubble. Players can clear the entrance and get through the crawlspace to find themselves at the crater from the prologue of the game. This time, the rabbit toy can be picked up from the nearby shore.

Once the rabbit toy is in Henri's possession, players will unlock the Toy CollectorAchievement. Moreover, throwing the toy at the Stalker grants the Sentimentalist achievement, and recovering it from the altar at the Chapel unlocks the Toy Fanatic achievement.
