Frictional Games has announced a short delay for its upcoming horror game Amnesia: The Bunker, which was previously announced for Xbox Game Pass. Amnesia: The Bunker has already faced a hefty delay when it was pushed back from its original March release date into May. The latest delay won't be as punishing as the first, but Frictional Games does need a bit of extra time in order to bring Amnesia: The Bunker up to the quality standards it expects.Amnesia: The Bunker is the latest title in the popular Amnesia horror franchise. There are three games in the Amnesia franchise for the time being. Amnesia: The Dark Descent started the series in 2010. 2013's Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was a spin-off title developed by The Chinese Room. Most recently, Frictional released Amnesia: Rebirth, with plans to continue releasing Amnesia games at a more frequent rate going forward. Amnesia: The Bunker is the next such project.RELATED: Amnesia: The Bunker PC System Requirements RevealedThe previously announced release date for Amnesia: The Bunker was May 16. That date has now been changed, with developer Frictional Games stating that it needs additional time to polish and "make sure everything is perfect." Frictional doesn't appear to need to do too much more, though. The updated release date for Amnesia: The Bunker is May 23, a delay of just one week.

Such a short delay is especially curious. There's very little that can be done in game development in just one week. Perhaps there are one or several key bugs that Frictional wants to address, or a fix that still needs to go through certification. Frictional Games doesn't elaborate on the specifics, but the delay is an oddity, for sure.

One other issue to note is that while Amnesia: The Bunker was announced by Xbox as an Xbox Game Pass Day One title when it had its initial March release date, no word regarding the Xbox Game Pass launch has been made since. While no official statement has been made stating Amnesia: The Bunker is no longer an Xbox Game Pass title, it's possible plans have changed. On the other hand, it's just as possible the delay is being made so that Amnesia: The Bunker is ready for Xbox Game Pass as planned.

A delay of just one week shouldn't be too frustrating for horror game fans looking forward to Amnesia: The Bunker. Those interested in playing Amnesia: The Bunker will just have to adjust their schedule a week for the updated release date. No other changes have been made to Frictional's plans.

Amnesia: The Bunker releases May 23 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
