  • Rumors suggest Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs may launch soon after the Zen 5 lineup, in line with X870E motherboard releases.
  • AMD processors like Ryzen 9 7950X are set to be released in July 2024, boasting increased power and performance.
  • The X3D variants, like Ryzen 7 7800X3D, utilize 3D V-Cache to improve gaming performance, surpassing high clock speeds.

According to rumors, the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPU lineup, which the tech giant has not officially revealed, could launch just two months after the upcoming release of confirmed Zen 5 processors. During the Computex 2024 conference in Taipei, AMD pulled back the curtain on its Ryzen 9000 series of CPUs, which are set to launch alongside compatible X870 and X870E motherboards in July.

Among the confirmed CPUs launching in the Zen 5 series, AMD's Ryzen 9000 series is slated to be much more powerful than the available Zen 4 generation. AMD stated that the most powerful of the confirmed Zen 5 CPUs, the Ryzen 9 9950X, will have 16 cores and 32 threads, with a boosted frequency at 5.7 GHz and a 170W power draw. By comparison, the Ryzen 5 9600X will improve upon the readily available Ryzen 5 7600X by offering up to 5.4 GHz of processing power and a decreased power draw of 65W. In addition to the Zen 5 lineup, AMD confirmed that the AM4 socket would live on with the Ryzen 5000XT CPUs launching in July.

Though all rumors must be taken with a grain of salt, a new rumor states the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D lineup may arrive sooner than anticipated. According to Club386, a reliable source claims the Ryzen 9000X3D processors could launch as soon as September 2024, two months after the Ryzen 9000 series hits the market. For comparison, the Ryzen 9 7950X 3D and 7900X3D processors launched in February 2023, five months after the release of the Ryzen 5 7600X and other Zen 4 CPUs. The source also stated that the September release window for the Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs lines up with the X870E chipset's launch window, but did not state which version of the Ryzen 9000X3D would come out first.

AMD Rumored to Launch Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs In September

  • Rumors claim the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs could launch two months after the confirmed Zen 5 lineup.
  • The launch of the Ryzen 9000X3D series could line up with X870E motherboard releases.
  • AMD has confirmed CPUs like the Ryzen 9 7950X will be released in July 2024.

Compared to their non-X3D counterparts, AMD processors such as the Ryzen 7 7800X3D have proven popular with PC gamers since their inception. While these Ryzen processors do not have as high clock speeds as their counterparts, the X3D units use a vertically stacked L3 cache, dubbed AMD 3D V-Cache, to improve gaming performance. Though the Ryzen 9 9950X is confirmed to have up to 80MB of total cache, previous generations of Ryzen processors that had X3D variants have had their caches doubled or tripled.

Although Intel is rumored to launch its Arrow Lake CPUs in October, the rumored Ryzen 9000X3D release window may be AMD's response to the competition. Only time will tell how AMD will apply its 3D V-Cache to the Zen 5 units.
