  • Quake 4 is now available for free to Prime Gaming subscribers for a limited time, coinciding with QuakeCon and the recent reveal of Quake 2 Remastered.
  • Quake 4 is set in a futuristic world where players defend Earth against alien invaders as Marine Corporal Matthew Kane.

In celebration of QuakeCon, Prime Gaming subscribers can now claim Quake 4 at no additional cost for a limited time. The news of Quake 4 comes a day after Quake 2 Remastered was officially revealed to kick off QuakeCon, which added various forms of new content for players to experience for the first time.

Initially released in 2005 for PC and Xbox 360, Quake 4 was developed by Raven Software in conjunction with id Software, and published by Activision. The game was made using the id Tech 4 game engine, which was used for games such as Doom 3 and 2009's Wolfenstein as well. But Bethesda's acquisition of id Software and all associated properties allowed it to publish all subsequent re-releases of the Quake series. This included the 2011 re-launch of Quake 4 on Steam. Like its predecessors, the plot of Quake 4 continues the defense of Earth against the extraterrestrial Stroggs, as players control Marine Corporal Matthew Kane of the Rhino Squad. Kane and his elite squad are charged with leading the counteroffensive, following the events of Quake 2. Nevertheless, players will have a brief time to claim Quake 4 at no added cost.

Until Thursday, September 14, Prime Gaming subscribers can claim a code for Quake 4 that can be redeemed on GOG. Once the code is claimed, Amazon Prime users have an additional month to enter the code on the GOG Galaxy app or website. Aside from the Prime Gaming offer, Quake 4 is also available for $4.99 on Steam until August 16 as part of the QuakeCon sale. Like with Quake 2 Remastered, the current version of Quake 4 will grant players access to multiplayer modes such as Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch, and can play as either a Marine or a Strogg.

The last time that the Quake series was available for Prime Gaming subscribers was in December 2022. At the time, users could claim a code for Quake Remastered on the Epic Games Store. Given the fact that QuakeCon is ongoing at the time of writing, the timing of this latest Prime Gaming offer could not be better for gamers looking to either get into the Quake series or relive some multiplayer moments.

In addition to Quake 4, Prime Gaming subscribers can also claim Payday 2, Farming Simulator 19, and Blade Assault throughout August. With new entries added constantly, only time will tell what else Prime Gaming users will be able to play in the future.

Quake 4 is available now for PC and Xbox 360. Amazon Prime Gaming subscribers can claim Quake 4 on GOG for free until September 14.
