Most information surrounding the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Acolyte series remains shrouded in mystery, but a new rumor may reveal a major plot point involving actor Amandla Stenberg's lead role. Stenberg's casting in the upcoming Star Wars series has been public information for some time, but not much is currently known about her leading role other than the character being a former padawan.

Acolyte will also star Lee Jung-jae as a Jedi Master, and has already attached an impressive list of writers. The synopsis reads, "The Acolyte is set at the end of the High Republic era in a world of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers, approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated."

However, a shocking report from industry scooper Daniel Richtman reveals a possible plot detail that may take Stenberg's role to a whole new level. According to Richtman, Stenberg will play not one but two characters. Her roles will include a pair of force-sensitive twins, both of Sith origin, but only one stays a Sith while the other "falls into the hands of the Jedi". If the rumor is true, Stenberg will play both the good twin and the bad twin.

Richtman's report continues by suggesting that the plot of the series will pick up after the sisters are separated, when the evil sister, who has become a Sith assassin is attempting to kill a Jedi Master played by The Matrix actor Carrie Ann Moss. Richtman states that because Moss' character is known to defeat her enemies using only martial arts and no lightsaber, the Sith assassin sister has also vowed to learn martial arts and kill Moss' character with a taste of her own medicine. This lines up with actor Dafne Keen's earlier statement that the show will be a Sith-led story.

More details rumored by Richtman include the show being set on the planet Dathomir, or some place similar, and Stenberg's character living on a ship called the Fallon with a droid called Pip which "looks like a game-boy." He also reveled that a big fight may take place between the Jedi and witches, along with several characters' lightsaber colors including Lee Jung-jae's Jedi Master with Blue, and Joonas Suotamo's Kelnacca the Wookiee-Jedi with green. According to Richtman, like Stenberg, actor Manny Jacinto will also be playing two versions of the same character, one bad and one good. A commenter on the post also suggested that actor Dafne Keen's character will be a Theelin, or rare near-human species, to which Richtman said, "I think so."

There is no doubt that this bombshell report will give Star Wars fans a lot to chew on leading up to the series premiere. Stenberg's double role certainly means a more difficult performance for the young up-and-coming actor, if the unofficial report is accurate. While Richtman has a good track record as an industry insider and scooper, Disney has been known to change plot details and storylines in the final hour, so only time will tell how many of these rumors will pan out.

The Star Wars saga is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
