Yet another Alien movie is officially in the works and the film is going to have the man who started it all attached, though he won't be behind the camera. The next Alien movie will be produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the very first installment while Fede Alvarez is going to be directing this new film.

While the franchise has laid mostly dormant for the last few years, it appears it's coming back in a big way in the near future. That's not surprising considering that the creatures at the center of the series, the Xenomorphs are amongst the most beloved antagonists in horror film culture. Now they'll be officially making a return to film.

According to a new article by The Hollywood Reporter Fede Alvarez who was behind both the surprise horror hit Don't Breathe and 2013’s remake of Evil Dead has actually been tapped to both write and direct the new stand-alone Alien movie. Alvarez will be able to lean on the man who knows the franchise inside and out since Ridley Scott will produce via his Scott Free banner.

Interestingly enough this particular project has something in common with the Alien television series that is also in the works. Alverez's project won't be making it to the big screen but is instead intended for Hulu. That actually means that both of these projects will be available on the streaming platform since it also has a deal in place to bring all the FX content to the site as well.

For now, it's not known what story Alvarez's project is going to tell as plot details are being kept very under wraps. What is known is that the movie will not explicitly link back to any of the movies that came before it, but it is possible that there could be ties to the Alien television series.

Fans of the Alien movies should apparently take heart in the fact that the new director has long been a fan of the franchise and he's long had an interest in helming a project in that world. It also appears that the stand-alone nature of this new movie is going to undo what some feel has become a rather convoluted Alien storyline. Just when fans will get to see this new project is as under wraps as what it will involve, however, it seems likely that the attachment of Fede Alvarez means 20th Century is ready to start spilling the beans in the relatively near future.
