Remedy Entertainment reveals that the survival horror sequel, Alan Wake 2, is currently on track and that it will be released later this year. Back in 2021, The Game Awards Show featured a number of surprising game announcements from acclaimed studios. The one that caught many off-guard was the reveal of Alan Wake 2, a sequel to the overlooked cult classic adventure from Remedy Entertainment, with its fandom having hoped the game would get a sequel. After a little over a decade since the last game, fans will be revisiting the town of Bright Falls, this time with a survival horror-focused premise.Alan Wake 2 is looking to be Remedy Entertainment's biggest game to date, with it ditching the Twin Peaks-inspired tone for a more ambitious scope and narrative that the studio looked to nail down. The studio has also grown in the last couple of years, opening new branches outside of Finland in both Stockholm and Sweden. After the game's previous update a few months ago, Remedy has announced that the sequel is going to be ready for release this year.RELATED: 505 Games Reveals Budgets for Control Sequel and Multiplayer Spin-OffThis piece of information was given in a blog post on Remedy Entertainment's website, which revealed a brand-new logo for the studio. This is the first time the studio's logo has been updated in twenty years, which aims to represent the company today. Near the end of the post, it states that the future is "exciting," as Alan Wake 2 is going to be released later in the year. The previous update for Alan Wake 2 stated it was aiming for a 2023 window, and it seems like that promise is being kept.

According to the blog post, Remedy Entertainment's previous logo had a bullet shape incorporated into the R-shape, which was representative of the Max Payne franchise and was the studio's defining "era," so to speak. With Remedy Entertainment now having several games under its belt, the logo has been changed to represent its evolution.

Despite the game being confirmed to be on track for this year, Alan Wake 2 doesn't have a solid release window yet, though it will likely be revealed in due time. Aside from Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment promises more experiences to come from the studio in the following years. Alongside the survival horror sequel, some of the games that are currently in development at Remedy Entertainment include full-on remakes of the first two Max Payne games, alongside a sequel to Control, making for a lineup that looks to expand Remedy's greater interconnected universe.

Alan Wake 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
