Remedy Entertainment has good news for fans who are excited for Alan Wake 2 to come out, as production on the title seems to be moving along quite well. Alan Wake 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the original 2010 cult classic game that captivated fans of horror with a unique story and flashlight-based gameplay.

After Alan Wake Remastered released in October 2021, bringing the title to PlayStation gamers for the first time after eleven years of Xbox console exclusivity, Alan Wake 2 was officially announced at The Game Awards just two months later. Since then, it's been one of the most highly-anticipated AAA games of 2023. In 2020 Remedy also confirmed that the worlds of Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and its 2019 original title Control all exist in the same Remedy Connected Universe after fans found strong references to Alan Wake among FBC documents in Control. With multiple projects underway at Remedy, it's looking like Alan Wake 2 is far and away the most imminent.

In a financial earnings report, CEO of Remedy Entertainment Tero Virtala shared that Alan Wake 2 has entered the final stage of production. He added that the Alan Wake sequel is still on track for release later this year and that as it nears shipping day some developers will be shifted to Remedy's other projects, a common practice in the world of AAA game development.

Alan Wake 2 is just one of several other projects being worked on by Remedy. The earnings report highlighted that the sequel to 2019 smash hit Control has progressed into the proof-of-concept stage earlier this year. The same was said about Codename Condor, a co-op multiplayer title set in Control's mysterious world. Additionally, Remedy's free-to-play co-op game Codename Vanguard and the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 are also in the proof-of-concept stage as well. All that said, it seems like out of all these projects Alan Wake 2 is clearly the farthest along in production, and thus the most ready to be released.

With Alan Wake 2 nearing the end of production and on track to release this year, it wouldn't be crazy for fans to expect its release date to be unveiled in June as part of Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest or perhaps at Xbox's or PlayStation's Summer showcases. It's also a safe bet that the long awaited sequel could be aiming for a Fall 2023 release, maybe even in October considering its status as a major horror title.

Alan Wake 2 is coming soon to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
