Lilith, the developer of the popular mobile game AFK Arena, has confirmed a new collaboration with Witcher by adding characters from the popular role-playing game and TV series. The idle role-playing game will introduce Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg as playable characters in AFK Arena's magical world of Esperia. Specifically, AFK Arena will add The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt versions of those characters and skills based on Geralt's and Yennefer's appropriate abilities in the game. The new crossover featuring Geralt and Yennefer will commence on September 21.

AFK Arena is a role-playing game with interesting AFK features, which means that players accumulate rewards while away from their devices, or just idle with the game on. Furthermore, the combat can be entirely automated, including the ultimate skill use, requiring minimal attention for playing the game. The game offers over a hundred Heroes in seven factions, all of which have separate abilities and ultimate skills. The players choose a limited set of heroes from their hero library to take to battle against AI opponents in a campaign format and special events. The battle setup is familiar to turn-based RPGs but is played entirely in real time.

AFK Arena's latest additions to the list of Esperia's Heroes are the beloved Witcher protagonist Geralt and his companion, the powerful sorceress Yennefer. With Geralt of Rivia, AFK Arena equips the character with his legendary runesword enhanced with Severance runeword and gives him three witcher signs to blast his enemies. One of the skills is based on a mutation ability introduced in The Witcher 3 expansion Blood and Wine, Piercing Cold. In the expansion, it is an Aard sign enhancement that freezes enemies and kills them when knocked down, which should give an idea about its mechanics in AFK Arena.

The abilities of Yennefer in AFK Arena are also inspired by the magical nature of her powers in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While Yennefer has gone through different forms in the mythology of The Witcher, her abilities in AFK Arena include both protective and damage spells. She is accompanied by a kestrel, a familiar bird that follows her in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The kestrel accompanies Yennefer for her normal attacks. In terms of special attacks, she summons both Frost and Thunder spells to damage the enemies.

AFK Arena employs a gacha mechanic to add heroes, meaning that players pull heroes randomly as part of the gameplay. The game has previously introduced game crossovers featuring Queen and Joker from Persona 5 and Ezio Auditore from the Assassin’s Creed series, as well as characters Ainz Ooal Gown and Albedo from the Japanese novel series Overlord.

AFK Arena is available now on mobile.
