Quick Links
One of the top Damage Dealing Class in Wrath of the Lich King Classic currently in Phase 2 is the Affliction Warlock with the Demonology Spec just behind it. The scaling of the gear and the mechanics of the fights in Ulduar are ensuring that these specializations truly shine.
Players looking to optimize their Affliction Warlocks and find the best gear for their character will want to be aware of their Best in Slot (BiS) items. As it may not be feasible that any player will receive every single one of their BiS items, this post will also provide additional options as every player will not have identical equipment and their stat priority will change.
The Affliction and Destruction specs share the same stat priorities ; players can use this guide for both specs as the BiS gear will be the same. Stay tuned for Demonology Warlocks as their specialization makes use of Spirit.
If you're still gearing up a new character, our Pre-Raid BiS list from Phase 1 can help you find some good gear before heading into battle with the Old God, Yogg-Saron. This gear is obtained from Dungeons and as a bonus will now drop Phase 1 Raid gear too!
All of our guides can be found in our Wrath of the Lich King Classic Directory or by navigating the Table of Contents at the Top of the screen. If you are looking to improve your Damage for Ulduar or any other content in Wrath Classic be sure to check out our Affliction Warlock PVE Guide.

Best Gems For Affliction Warlock In Phase 2 - Ulduar
Be sure to replace a Runed Scarlet Ruby with the new fishing daily epic gem Runed Stormjewel. They are not soulbound so players can also purchase them at the auction house. Affliction Warlocks will want to focus on getting the following gems for each individual socket type:
Meta Gem Socket
The Crit gem still holds up as the BiS Meta Gem due to the talent Ruin. Typically players will want to use Purified Twilight Opal in 2 of their blue sockets, ideally when it is a Spell Power, Hit, or Haste socket bonus.
Red Socket
For red sockets focus on Spell Power provided by these gems. Generally, these are used whenever the socket bonus is not worth it. As it will be a DPS loss to only stick to the correct socket type.
- Runed Dragon's Eye x3 (Jeweler's Gem)
- Runed Stormjewel x1 (Fishing Daily)
- Runed Scarlet Ruby
Blue Socket
For a blue socket, the Spell Power / Spirit gem is the best; only use 2 to activate the Meta Gem and ideally aim to use it where the socket bonus is Spell Power, Haste, or Hit (if needed).
Yellow Socket
Players can use any of the gems below in yellow sockets; generally, only used where the socket bonus is Spell Power, Haste, or Hit (if needed). Use the Hit Rating gems if you are short of reaching the Hit Rating cap.
