AEW Fight Forever is finally adding Swerve Strickland to its roster as a DLC character. AEW: Fight Forever is a retro-inspired throwback to the old arcade-style wrestling games like WWF No Mercy. Despite this enticing premise, AEW Fight Forever has been met with a mixed response from wrestling fans since it launched last June, with the major criticisms being centered around the game’s presentation and lack of gameplay modes at release.

Yuke’s and publisher THQ Nordic are still building on AEW Fight Forever through DLC and updates, like when the multiplayer Superstar Stampede match was added back in August. After that came “Beat the Elite,” a gauntlet mode that saw players challenge 10 opponents before facing off against a member of The Elite faction. Speaking of wrestlers, AEW Fight Forever has also been fleshing out its roster of playable wrestlers with Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed, followed by currently reigning AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm.

Swerve Strickland joined All Elite Wrestling in 2022, and quickly established himself as a top performer. Before that, he wrestled for a number of different promotions, and his nearly 3-year run in WWE led to him being a playable character in WWE 2K22 under the name Isaiah "Swerve" Scott - despite that game coming out after he was released from the company in November 2021. In AEW, Strickland partnered with fellow WWE alumni Keith Lee as the tag team Swerve In Our Glory, only to eventually turn on him and join the villain stable Mogul Embassy in early 2023.

Given his many accomplishments in AEW and other wrestling promotions, some fans were left puzzled and disappointed when Swerve Strickland was left off the base AEW Fight Forever roster, but the good news is that he is finally being added as the first new character in the upcoming Season 3 DLC. Players will be able to take to the ring as Strickland when AEW Fight Forever’s Swerve to the Beach DLC launches on February 14.
