AEW Fight Forever is finally adding Samoa Joe, a former world champion, in its next DLC season. Even after AEW Fight Forever launched to mixed reviews last June, developer Yuke’s and publisher THQ Nordic have been adding new match types and playable wrestlers in its past three DLC seasons. It started with the tag team FTR shortly after the game’s release, followed by notable AEW performers like Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed and currently reigning AEW Women's World Champion Toni Storm.

AEW Fight Forever’s third DLC season pass began in February with the addition of current AEW World Champion and Mogul Embassy leader Swerve Strickland. Then came Claudio Castagnoli, a giant of a wrestler who once performed in WWE under the name Cesaro, and even made it into the WWE 2K22 roster despite leaving the company nearly a month before. Finally, Jamie Hayter was finally brought into AEW Fight Forever earlier this month after being off TV for nearly a year.

While Tony Khan himself has promised that more content is coming to AEW Fight Forever, that actually might not be the best approach for the company.

Now another major wrestler is being added to AEW Fight Forever, one that many fans will agree is long overdue. As shown in the new “World War Joe” DLC trailer, former AEW World Champion Samoa Joe will be the first AEW Fight Forever Season 4 DLC character, and is set to be released on May 8. The Samoan Suplex Machine shows off his powerful arsenal of moves throughout the trailer in an Exploding Barbwire Deathmatch and Stadium Stampede mode among other gameplay types as AEW commentators mention how dominant and destructive he is in the ring.

AEW Fight Forever World War Joe DLC Release Date

  • May 8, 2024

Those are fitting words to describe Samoa Joe, who has made his mark across promotions like WWE and TNA Impact Wrestling before debuting in AEW in 2022. As a result of his prolific in-ring career, Samoa Joe has been playable in countless wrestling games over the years, and like Claudio Castagnoli he was included in WWE 2K22 despite his earlier departure from the company. He has recently developed quite the gaming resume outside of the virtual squared circle as well, serving as the physical actor for Sweet Tooth in the live-action Twisted Metal series before voicing King Shark in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Samoa Joe has managed to land numerous championships in All-Elite Wrestling, making his initial absence from the AEW Fight Forever launch roster a glaring omission for many fans. Luckily, players won’t have to wait too much longer to unleash Samoa Joe’s devastating Muscle Buster on opponents, as he will finally be playable once AEW Fight Forever Season 4’s “World War Joe” DLC pack launches in early May.
