Wrestling fans waiting for the release of AEW Fight Forever might be in for more of a wait until the up-and-coming brawler is released. Since AEW Fight Forever was announced, gamers have been waiting to jump into the square circle with the likes of Kenny Omega and Freshly Squeezed Orange Cassidy, but a firm release date is so far yet to materialize. While players still don’t know when they will be getting their hands on the game, a glimmer of information was provided by the head of All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan. At the most recent PPV, AEW Revolution, on March 5, Khan stated that the game was done and is coming very soon. Since then, no more information has come to light.RELATED:WWE 2K23 Player Creates Lucha Libre Sensation Komander Ahead of Dream MatchTaking to Twitter to follow up on the comments made by Khan, Matt Black, the senior editor of Wrestle Zone, asked THQ Nordic’s Global Community Manager known by the handle of Zyddie about AEW Fight Forever’s progress. The manager responded by saying that the first game from the All Elite Wrestling promotion is moving along but the team isn’t ready to confirm a release date just yet. Further in the thread, Zyddie clarified that Khan’s comments were slightly out of context as the game is fully playable but does require polishing to get it up to snuff.

The lack of clarity from all parties involved with developing the first game from AEW has been a bone of contention for fans for a while. Earlier in the year Kenny Omega, one of the faces of the wrestling promotion, addressed concerns surrounding the game by saying that AEW Fight Forever was scaling back content to secure a “T” rating from the ESRB before a firm release date was announced.

Following Omega’s update, more issues have risen as AEW was hit with a trademark dispute over the Fight Forever moniker by the independent promotion Game Changer Wrestling. This was set to be resolved under a “good faith” agreement, but a solution was not found in time, causing GCW to request a court extension to find a suitable resolution.

While development is still progressing with AEW and THQ Nordic, fans are instead turning to other games to get their fix of interactive wrestling. One gamer has managed to recreate the current AEW World Champion MJF in WWE 2K23 using the detailed character creation tool found within the game. The character, while missing his trademark scarf and Triple-B belt, has hit the right note with fans as they praised the level of detail poured into the creation.

AEW Fight Forever is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
