AEW Fight Forever could get a big DLC boost by using one of AEW's most heralded Pay-Per-View events as inspiration. While the game has released in a somewhat basic state, it has room to grow as many other games have before it. The roster alone is a big source of potential expansions, since there have been many wrestlers that have already competed for AEW in its short history, many of whom have built names for themselves elsewhere. AEW Fight Forever could have a huge opportunity at its fingertips if it makes the right moves with expansions.

With the announcement of AEW Fight Forever adding the Stadium Stampede match, it's clear that the developers are willing to make big additions to the game post-release. This is a good sign for the future, because that means that more wrestlers, more match types, and more creation options can be added to the game in the coming months or even years. Increasing the amount of offerings that AEW Fight Forever has for fans will further help fortify its role and perhaps even justify a sequel down the line. As a bonus, some of its potential perks are ones that WWE games wouldn't be able to replicate.

Forbidden Door Could Bring NJPW Wrestlers to AEW Fight Forever

Much like the aforementioned Stadium Stampede match, AEW Fight Forever could feature a DLC pack named after another of the promotion's iconic events. AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door is an event that has taken place twice thus far, featuring talent from both AEW as well as New Japan Pro Wrestling. Both events received high praise, thanks in large part to the high level of match quality as well as the names involved. The AEW and NJPW rosters have a significant amount of fanbase overlap, making a crossover between the two a reasonable move, and the same may also be true for AEW Fight Forever.

A DLC expansion based on the Forbidden Door events could be a perfect addition to AEW Fight Forever. For starters, a Forbidden Door arena would be a welcome addition. However, the real draw would come from adding NJPW stars to the roster. Forbidden Door has featured some of NJPW's biggest stars, such as the hard-hitting Tomohiro Ishii, feared veteran Minoru Suzuki, and charismatic superstar Kazuchika Okada. Adding such famed wrestlers would be amazing for AEW Fight Forever, and other rising stars such as Douki, Great-O-Khan, and Shota Umino would be an added bonus to make the DLC well worth the asking price.

The main concern with a Forbidden Door DLC pack would be making a deal with NJPW in order to make it happen. AEW Fight Forever still needs polishing, and negotiations would certainly need to be made. However, there is reason to have hope that an NJPW crossover could happen. The game Fire Pro Wrestling World featured multiple NJPW DLCs, each adding wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling as well as their moves, ultimately adding an impressive amount of content. While Fire Pro Wrestling World and AEW Fight Forever take two very different approaches, the former's NJPW deal gives hope to the latter.

A crossover expansion with New Japan Pro Wrestling could be one of the best moves that AEW Fight Forever could make at this time. Adding some new characters to unlock in AEW Fight Forever is always a good move, and adding iconic NJPW stars would be a remarkable draw for fans of the promotion. Aside from Ring of Honor, which is already owned by AEW owner Tony Khan, there isn't another promotion that would be more suited to a crossover. If the developers can make it happen, an NJPW crossover in AEW Fight Forever has incredible potential.

AEW Fight Forever is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
