The Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp remake compilation's release may be coming up before long if claims that the game's Nintendo Switch eShop profile has recently been updated are to be believed. Advance Wars is a popular first-party strategy game series from Nintendo's Fire Emblem studio, Intelligent Systems. Initially made for Nintendo's handheld consoles, a new Advance Wars hasn't been made since 2008. Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, put together by third-party WayForward, might be the first step toward something new.

The momentum for the tactics game's launch was unfortunately stunted due to Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp's unexpected delay in 2022. Slated for release on April 8, 2022, Nintendo delayed the game due to the war in Ukraine and Advance Wars' military themes. Nintendo confirmed in September 2022 that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp's release hadn't been canceled, but that an updated release date had yet to be determined. Fans have been waiting for an update since.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp may be getting an updated release date soon. A Nintendo Switch eShop scraper is claiming that the listing for Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp has been updated. No meaningful information about the game or its release date changed, but the update perhaps indicates that Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp will be opening up to pre-orders soon. A similar change was made to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's eShop page.

It's worth mentioning that when those who had pre-ordered Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp before were notified of the game's delay, some received notification of an updated release date. That release date was February 24, 2023. That release date was provided by retailers and not Nintendo, however, and retailers can often prove unreliable sources for release information. Nevertheless, it's an interesting coincidence considering the recent eShop change.

For the time being, the possibility of an updated Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp release date or pre-orders re-opening should be considered a rumor at best. The war in Ukraine is ongoing and remains intense, which could continue to keep the game from releasing.

Nintendo has yet to have a Direct event in 2023. When these presentations arrive is difficult to predict, however. If both Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp and the next Zelda game were recently updated in the Switch's eShop, perhaps that means a Nintendo Direct will be arriving soon. If a Nintendo Direct for early 2023 is announced, at that point Advance Wars fans can probably begin to grow excited again.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is in development for Switch.
