Upon finishing either the East Anglia arc or Oxenefordscire arc in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players have the option to pursue the next line of quests in Lunden. This storyline begins with the quest Walls and Shadows and introduces the pair of characters that will dominate this relatively short arc: Stowe and Erke.

This quest takes players to the ancient city of Lunden and asks them to conduct an investigation. For those Assassin's Creed Valhalla players looking to work their way through this quest, this guide is here to help.

How to Start the Walls and Shadows Quest?

Players need to travel to the southern portion of England in order to begin this quest and the Lunden arc in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. To the north of the city that gives this arc its name, players need to approach the traffic heading into the gate to trigger the opening cutscene. Through this, players are dropped into unarmed combat against a pair of revolting civilians alongside new character Stowe. Stowe will likely take out one leaving the other to player.

This prompts a conversation with Stowe that hints at a potential romantic relationship but, even if players pursue this conversation option, a romance will not bloom. Instead, players need to follow Stowe as he makes his way through this large city in England.

How to Investigate Tryggr's Death?

Unfortunately, Stowe and Eivor arrive at the Governor's Villa to find that the leader of Lunden has been killed. In response players need to investigate the room to gain an understanding on who could be responsible. This leads players to four points:

  • The headless body on the throne in the center of the room
  • The trio of footprints leading outside
  • A surgeon's tools hidden in the corner underneath a box
  • The guard that has been hanged from the ceiling

With each of these locations investigated, players will be sent to the Temple of Mithras in the eastern portion of Lunden.

How to Investigate the Temple of Mithras?

The ruins of the Temple of Mithras are sprawling but the entrance that players are looking for is at the center of this complex. Players can either sneak past the guards or clear the area but, either way, at the foot of the stairs is the entrance to the temple's interior that Eivor can slide through.

The first piece of evidence inside the temple is a sheet of paper and a pair of tools on a table on the left side of the first room. The second piece of evidence is a single sheet of paper on the right side of the room. Players need to move the further box on the left side that is blocking a hidden entrance to advance the quest and learn more about these members of the Order of Ancients.

The next room is straight down, two rights, and through a breakable wooden door. Players can pick up the Briton Shield, a light shield in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, in the treasure chest just before this entrance as well. In the second room, there are pieces of evidence on the table in the center of the room as well as on the altar along the back wall. With all of these documents investigated, players can return to the Governor's Villa to share the information with Stowe and Erke and end the mission.
