Despite its set up as a prequel, Assassin's Creed Mirage is a throwback to the classic series before the Origins trilogy, featuring Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. Exploration is tighter, and the focus on stealth, espionage, and assassinations takes center stage over the open-world RPG mechanics of its predecessors.

Assassin's Creed Mirage stars Basim and the Creed Brotherhood when they were initially known as the Hidden Ones. Players get more insight into the fight between the Hidden Ones and the Order of Ancients - who would later become the Templars. Players will love experiencing Mirage's old-school feel and look, but the default free-running parkour mechanics are closer to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. This guide will show players how to change their controls in AC Mirage so it is closer to older titles like Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and its predecessors.

Assassin's Creed: Mirage is a shorter game than its predecessors, but there's still plenty of content; so here is how long it takes to beat.

How To Change The Controls In AC Mirage

The fighting system in Assassin's Creed Mirage already feels like a mix of old and new. Attacking and the use of dodges feel similar to Valhalla, but its focus on parries and instant kills makes it closer to the classics. Therefore, changing the parkour/free running mechanics so Mirage plays and feels like the older games will be vital for fans of the older entries. Use the following steps to customize the control system for Assassin's Creed Mirage:

  • Press the start/options button on the gamepad.
  • Select Menu, then highlight and select Options.
  • Select the Controls menu.
  • Under Controller, highlight and select Customize Controls.
  • Highlight Sprint/Lunge/Gallop, select the assigned button, and change it to RT on Xbox or R2 on PlayStation. Ensure Hold is selected from the dropdown menu next to the input key.

  • Change Eagle Vision to the L-stick button and ensure Toggle is selected.

The control system above will closely resemble older Assassin's Creed games - post Assassin's Creed 3 - and prevent the new button assignments from clashing. Free running and parkour will feel more natural by holding down the R2/RT button, and retaining X/A to climb and the Circle/B button to ascend and descend buildings is remarkably similar to Assassin's Creed Unity and Syndicate.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is available now for the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
