Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson will soon return to the Marvel universe in Sony's upcoming film Kraven The Hunter. Though he distanced himself from the franchise for a few years now, the Age of Ultron actor is finally revealing his reasoning as to why he stepped out of the limelight and is now ready to be let back in.

With a stacked filmography, Taylor-Johnson has appeared in multiple multi-million dollar franchises, including Marvel Studios' Avengers: Age of Ultron as Scarlet Witch's witty brother, Quicksilver. In later years, as the actor said goodbye to the superhero, he was also involved in other major projects such as Warner Bros.' Godzilla reboot and Sony's Bullet Train. But despite keeping himself busy through different projects, and making a bigger name for himself in Hollywood, his most important roles have been sporadic throughout his career. And he now reveals why.

In a recent interview with Esquire magazine, Taylor-Johnson discussed his career and admitted that he started turning down roles in big franchises as his fame grew after Avengers: Age of Ultron's success. "I didn't really care for them," the actor says, "[I was up for movies] that nobody knows about— big, huge franchises that were in play." The main reason for his separation from Hollywood? His growing family. At the time of his involvement with Marvel Studios, the actor had a two-year-old daughter and a newborn at home, to whom he wanted to dedicate most of his time.

The Avengers actor also discussed his ideal frequency when taking on a new role. He believes that an actor who goes from job to job becomes boring since the mundane routine of getting makeup and hair done, knowing marks, and reading lines can get ordinary and boring. Instead, he prefers taking on activities that will feed his soul. "I enjoy the normality of things, the everyday stuff," he says, "getting my kids ready in the mornings, taking them to school and activities— that's plenty."

But while the Tenet actor thought he would be done with major franchises for now, he finds himself preparing for the recognition that his starring role in the new film, the anticipated Kraven The Hunter, will bring. The film, set to premiere in August 2024, will be in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, and it will follow Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff setting out on a mission to prove himself as the greatest hunter in the world. In addition to that, he also has some other projects lined up, including Universal Pictures' The Fall Guy, which premieres in March 2024, and Nosferatu, also coming out in 2024.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is available on Disney Plus, and Kraven The Hunter will release in theaters on August 30, 2024.
