A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is an upcoming single-player, narrative-driven action video game steeped in stealth and horror. Published by Saber Interactive, the spin-off comes from the wildly popular franchise of the same name, where extra-terrestrial creatures have made it their mission to hunt every being alive. The third movie installment, a prequel, is currently in theatres, and A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is set to follow its sibling later on in 2024.

From the reveal trailer and the pictures available on Steam, the video game is all set to be a refreshing experience for fans of the survival horror genre. A core part of this is crystal clear: players will have to ensure not a single sound is made during their run. If they fail, death will be at hand.

A brand-new video game based on the smash-hit film A Quiet Place is coming later this year, and horror fans will want to take a look.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead To Crank Up Stealth Like Never Before

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead's developer, Stormind Games, is judiciously sticking to the lore set by the movie franchise. Considering that players will have to ensure they make no sound at all, the horror game may have unique combat mechanics. For those unaware, what makes the monsters terrifying is not only the fact that they have super hearing and can hear even the smallest sounds far away, but also that their bodies are indestructible. Further, they are extremely agile and have bladed forelimbs that can cut anything down in one slash.

Given these points, it's almost impossible to take them down in combat without appropriate sonic help. To this end, players will have to sneak around the entire playthrough as stealthily as they can. This is akin to the stealth horror in Amnesia: The Bunker and Alien: Isolation. However, the difference here is that A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will be more story-driven and have at least a semi-open world as well. This means players will have more room to explore, but conversely, they will have more chances to mess up as well.

Exploring a detailed world, discovering new items, interacting with people, and generally keeping a constant lookout can be quite hard on the nerves. Naturally, there may be multiple video game action sequences that can be burned into players' memories. At this point, it is not known whether any background score will be present in A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead. But, it is possible that the developers may choose to go without to build up the game's intensity; this will also help players out with keeping tabs on the noise level. This will likely be implemented, considering the movies had no background score either.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead To Give Players Complete Agency In Gameplay

Stormind Games' upcoming survival-horror experience will give players freedom of choice in tackling their journey however they wish. Multiple survivor camps will be present in the open-world video game, as can be seen in map markings in the reveal trailer. As per A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead's Steam page, they will be free to explore their surroundings and discover new tools and gadgets. A key item that should be mentioned here looks like a sound meter to measure the amount of noise being made. This is important, as players will need to keep quiet at all times and stay away from noisy areas.

As per A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead's reveal trailer, fans will also be able to use their ingenuity in various ways. For one, they will be able to distract the monsters in case they cannot escape or find a place to hide. This is set to be a key mechanic, especially as the journey through the apocalyptic landscape will be constantly fraught with dangers.

The franchise lore has also shown that it is possible to kill the creatures by shooting them, but this can only be done after using a sound device to "torment" them and force their head's invincible layers to open up. While it is not currently known whether players will be able to face them in combat like this, such sequences, if present, will likely be restricted to interactive scenes and not open gameplay. This can certainly lead to intense action-horror sequences in A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
