Atlus's 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was one of the most highly anticipated games published by the Shin Megami Tensei and Persona developer during 2020. The sci-fi adventure starring a group of 13 high school students thrust into a war of mechas and kaijus was a massive hit on release, winning several awards and being praised for its gorgeous anime-inspired art style. While the game developed by Odin Sphere developer Vanillaware was a PS4 exclusive on its release, a recent trailer from ATLUS announced that players on Nintendo Switch would soon be able to dive into its stylistic world.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was released in November of 2019 in Japan and received a delayed release worldwide in September 2020, with its localization slowed by the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. 13 Sentinels had been in production since 2015 after director George Kamitani officially conceived the idea in 2013 following the completion of Vanillaware's previous game, Dragon's Crown. The game saw significant praise for its story and art, being nominated for 'Best Narrative' at the 2020 Game Awards, and the popular title is gearing up for its first release on a non-PlayStation console early next year.

A new trailer from ATLUS West's official YouTube channel officially announced the development of a Nintendo Switch version of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, which is scheduled for an April 12, 2022 launch. The trailer showed off the game's beautiful art style, showcasing many of the unique and striking backdrops featured throughout the game. The second half of the trailer introduced 13 Sentinels' time-traveling sci-fi plot and some of the thirteen playable characters featured in the game's story.

One thing that was not made apparent within the trailer for the upcoming Switch version was whether 13 Sentinels' English voiceover would also be making the transition to the portable console. The game's English dub was previously released as a Day 1 patch for the PS4 release, and the Switch trailer featured fully Japanese voiceover with no mention made of the English dub. The previously-mentioned delay of the worldwide release due to COVID-19 contributed to the addition of the English voiceover, yet it remains to be seen whether Switch players will be able to switch between Japanese and English audio.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim also saw significant love from members of the gaming industry, with Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai previously praising 13 Sentinels in his weekly Famitsu column following the game's initial release in Japan. Thanks to this announcement, Switch fans can look forward to seeing what all the buzz is about regarding 13 Sentinels.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is available now for PlayStation 4. A Switch version is currently in development and scheduled to release on April 12.
