It has been a long time since developer Vanillaware graced the gaming space with a new visual delight. The developer has been working on their next game for a while now, but the wait is nearly over.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim received a new trailer amid the Summer announcement period. Outside of just showing off how pretty a Vanillaware game is, the trailer also provided a North American release date. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will be available on the PlayStation 4 on September 8.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim has been in the center of critical appraisal across the video game industry. It was earlier this year that Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai gushed over the game in a Famitsu column. Sakurai urged anyone who wants to write game scenarios to play this game. That is incredibly high praise from a developer who knows his video games.

Vanillaware as a developer exists as a fan favorite and a distinctly unique one. Vanillaware games often have a specific look and feel that serves as something of a signature. The last new IP by the developer was Dragon's Crown back in 2013. Since them, the studio remade one of its earlier hits with Odin Sphere Leiftharasir and a remaster the aforementioned Dragon's Crown for PlayStation 4. 13 Sentinals: Aegis Rim was announced back in 2015 meaning fans have been waiting for a spell. It's long dormancy even has it pegged as one of the lingering holdouts of the generation.

With 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim still being months out, it might be time to run through Vanillaware's catalog for what can only be a stunning adventure with some gorgeous artwork.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim releases on 8 September for the PlayStation 4.
