During the recent Mortal Kombat 11 AT&T Annihilator Cup tournament with $100,000 on the line, popular 100 Thieves streamer Moe "Yassuo" Abdalrhman smashed his Corsair keyboard so badly that it sent keys flying.
Yassuo was broadcasting to his Twitch community during the recent Mortal Kombat 11 best of three series against Cloud9 streamer Emiru when a finishing blow caused him to lose his temper and smash his keyboard. Emiru was playing as Cetrion when she landed the killing blow on Yassuo’s Scorpion during their first match.
Upon losing the first round of his best of three with Emiru, Yassuo smashed his keyboard. Each round in a best of three series Mortal Kombat 11 tournament flows from one round to another rather swiftly, which caused Yassuo to scramble to grab the missing keys before the second round started.
Yassuo spent most of the rest of his series of fights with Emiru trying to piece together the Corsair keyboard, relying on advice from chat to get the placement of the keys right while imploring them not to laugh at him. The streamer used this lapse in judgement as a way to joke around with his community, suggesting that Corsair should refund him for the faulty keyboard.
The recent Mortal Kombat 11 tournament isn't the first time Yassuo destroyed a keyboard while broadcasting live as the Twitch streamer once destroyed another keyboard during a League of Legends stream. Yassuo also nearly destroyed a PC back in 2019 after another rough game of LoL. This 100 Thieves streamer is primarily known for his skills in League of Legends, but he delves into other titles such as Mortal Kombat 11 from time to time. Click here to see the clip, but note that there is some offensive language.
After sending keys flying during the recent tournament, Yassuo had to put his keyboard back together between rounds and during the beginning of the following round, leaving him scrambling to compete against Emiru on a level playing field. The AT&T Annihilation Cup has drawn the likes of Shroud, Mizkif, Tommey, LIRIK, Yassou, and PvPx and it has entered its second half.
Halo 3 and Among Us will round out the rest of the AT&T Annihilation Cup, with Apex Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive matches taking place before Mortal Kombat 11. Ultimately Yassuo lost the $100,000 Mortal Kombat 11 tournament to Emiru after losing another round from his keyboard malfunction as there are no breaks between rounds for players to fix their setup, controls, etc.
Considering the levels of concentration required for competitive gaming, it's fair to understand why Yassuo was unable to come back after smashing his Corsair keyboard. Many gamers around the world have had malfunctions similar to Yassuo's Corsair keyboard conundrum, but losing keys during a high-stakes tournament stings a little harder.
