Nintendo has revealed updated sales numbers for the 10 best-selling Switch games of all time. The Nintendo Switch has been a massive sales success for Nintendo, with the home console/handheld hybrid passing 141 million units sold worldwide. With the Nintendo Switch having such a massive fanbase, it's no surprise that the console is home to some incredibly successful Nintendo software as well.

The list of the 10 best-selling Nintendo Switch games is completely dominated by Nintendo-published titles. The Switch has built an impressive lineup of exclusive games, with even more on the horizon. Even so, it's worth pointing out that the best-selling Switch game of all time, and one that is almost certainly never going to be dethroned, is technically an enhanced port of a Wii U title.

Nintendo has revealed the file sizes for two upcoming Switch exclusive games that are set to launch in the next couple of months.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best-selling Switch game, with 61.97 million units sold so far. It's followed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 45.36 million units, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 34.22 million, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at 31.85 million, Super Mario Odyssey at 27.96 million, Pokemon Sword and Shield at 26.27 million, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at 24.92 million, Super Mario Party at 20.66 million, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at 20.61 million, and finally, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe at 17.45 million units sold as of May 2024.

10 Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games of All Time

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 61.97 million
  2. Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 45.36 million
  3. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 34.22 million
  4. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 31.85 million
  5. Super Mario Odyssey - 27.96 million
  6. Pokemon Sword and Shield - 26.27 million
  7. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - 24.92 million
  8. Super Mario Party - 20.66 million
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 20.61 million
  10. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 17.45 million

Notably, every game on this list is in the exact same position they were in when Nintendo last revealed the best-selling Switch games. The only difference is how many units each game has sold. Future financial reports from Nintendo will likely shake things up a bit. It's entirely possible Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will eventually overtake Pokemon Sword and Shield, and it seems highly likely that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will eventually take Super Mario Party's spot.

What remains unclear is if any new game will ever crack the top 10. As it stands, Nintendo is starting to wind down its work on the Switch, having finally publicly acknowledged that the Switch 2 is in the works. There are still upcoming Switch exclusive games yet to be released, but it's unlikely that they will be popular enough to break the top 10. Time will tell, but these 10 games could very well be the definitive list of the 10 best-selling Switch exclusives.
